LIDIA
ŚNIATYCKA-OLSZEWSKA – fine artist,
interior architect, the member of The Polish
Association of Fine Arts Artists (since
1958). She has graduated from Mikołaj
Kopernik University in Toruń at the
Department of Fine Arts, specialising in
interior architecture and applied arts.
In
her output she has numerous works in the
domain of interior architecture – (Wrocław,
Białystok, Grodno, Jelenia Góra and towns
of the former Jelenia Góra Province). As
the result of her activities on the verge of
art and architecture she also became a
member of The Association of Polish
Architects (1975).
She
took part in many collective exhibitions and
two individual ones devoted to interior
architecture and applied graphics (Białystok
1974 and Jelenia Góra 1977).
At
the end of the 70s she became fascinated
with work on the verge of art and town
planning. She elaborated designs and
projects dealing with introducing plastic
and spatial order in towns, starting from
general views which create the town’s
climate (painter’s visions, concepts of
space and colour arrangements) and ending up
with stylish architectural details. In order
to enrich her professional knowledge she
completed post-graduate studies at Warsaw
Technical University (1979) specialising in
town planning.
For
her activities on the verge of art and town
planning the Main Board of Polish Town
Planning Specialists’ Association awarded
her with the Silver Mark of Honour TUP in
1983.
At
the moment, after the years devoted to
designing, she is in the process of
describing her experiences and
considerations in the electronic version
book entitled “W Kręgu Starej Chaty”
She also creates impressionistic
graphic-painting miniatures, which she calls
“Mikrotwory” (“Micro-creatures”).
Tomasz
Olszewski
– artistic
photographer. Since 1959 member of the
Association of Polish Artistic Photographers.
He has graduated from University in Wrocław
– faculties of economics and geography.
In the years 1953 – 1960 he participated
in several national exhibitions and 14
foreign ones.
In 1986 he received the award of the Town of
Wrocław in the field of photography.
In the years 1960 – 1982 he had 9
individual premiere exhibitions and
published 2 photographic albums: “ Wrocław
Stary i Nowy” (“Wrocław Old and New”)
and “Moje Miasto” (“My Town”).
At the same time he was active in town
planning studios (Wrocław, Białystok,
Jelenia Góra), preparing photographic
justification for landscape decisions.
In the years 1982 – 2000 he presented an
individual exhibition “Kraina Wichrów i
Mgieł” (“The Country of Gales and Fogs)
– Jelenia Góra, Bad Harzburg, Szklarska
Poręba.
He is interested in the visual side of
social phenomena, of which he takes pictures,
as of peculiar signs of the times.
Excursions in the woods with a camera have
always been treated by him as relaxation and
an escape from human issues, that is why in
his shots of nature man appears only as an
accessory figure.
At the moment he is preparing pattern
volumes of new albums for publication.
